The way in.

Start with the current Learn to Skate page and confirm where the next camp will meet. The league has changed premises and website structure. An old warehouse address or archived camp price can send you to the wrong place.

Learn to Skate is a five-week, 10-session clinic followed by a Join BAD Day. It introduces derby skating and gives learners a route toward joining the league. The published course description expects you to be able to balance and roll without help. If that is still a goal, ask whether the next intake includes a from-zero option.

Oakland / East Bay. Confirm the current training warehouse and access instructions.

Bay Area Derby describes moving out of its previous warehouse in July 2024 and signing a new lease in December 2025. Its current project is preparing that space for public use. A game at Richmond Memorial Auditorium does not establish the camp location.

Ask about the next campUse the league’s current Learn to Skate intake form to ask for the next camp dates. An intake form expresses interest; it does not itself establish a booked course place.

The money part.

The current Learn to Skate page publishes a $50–300 sliding scale for 10 sessions across five weeks, with a suggested $100 contribution. It states that lack of funds does not exclude participation. Ask what insurance and personal gear add, and confirm the terms for the next camp before paying.

What you can borrow

The published program description offers some equipment subject to size and availability. Arrange it before class and provide your own mouthguard.

Who the program is for

The program is described for adults learning WFTDA flat-track derby. Confirm the participation requirements for the intake and for later league play. The league also recruits volunteers and officials.
